Lecture of Professor Alan Cafruny on the topic “Is Atlanticism Fading Away?”

The Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs invites you on Friday December 7 at 18:10 to participate in the lecture with Professor Alan Cafruny. Alan Cafruny is a Henry Bristol Professor of International Affairs on the faculty of Government, Hamilton College (USA).

Alan Cafruny is the author of numerous books and scholarly articles, including The European Union and Global Capitalism: Origins, Development, Crisis (co-authored with Magnus Ryner, Palgrave, 2017) and Europe at Bay: In the Shadow of US Hegemony (co-authored with Magnus Ryner, Lynne Rienner, 2007). His articles have appeared in a variety of journals in the United States and Europe, including the New Left Review, International Organization, Review of International Political Economy, New Political Economy, and the International Spectator. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the European Studies Association (EUSA). He was Visiting Professor (1993-4) and External Professor (1994-2000) in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy).

The guest will make a report on topic “Is Atlanticism Fading Away?” The transatlantic relationship has served as the ideological, economic, and geopolitical center of the American global imperium for six decades. Can it survive Trump's "America First" policies, the rise of populism, and China's ascent?

The working language is English.

The event will be held on 17 Malaya Ordinka St. (Moscow), 1st floor, room 106 (conference room).
