An HSE University linguist is investigating the features of musical communities’ speech. Maybe you like shaking your head to some good music, or maybe you create covers for underground rock music. Or maybe you often find yourself heatedly discussing postmodernist composers till you are blue in the face. No matter how your love of music manifests itself, you are welcome to share your experiences with the researcher!
The musical community is heterogeneous. It includes performers, from conservatory graduates to street musicians, as well as those who simply love music. But do they speak one language? Or can they be split into groups depending on the slang they use? What is the difference between the language of a listener and a musician, a beginning musician and an experienced professional? Can certain expressions be a sign of how immersed one is in the music scene? Please help us answer these questions and make your contribution to scholarly research!
Complete a survey consisting of two parts. This will take no more than 15 mins.
We welcome everyone who is related to the music industry, who loves listening to music, or is interested in the topic. International participants are particularly welcome!
The researcher has promised to share the outcomes of her study with IQ.HSE.
