$4.5 billion

is the volume of Russian IT exports

IT services are the most competitive Russian IT product on the global market. The export figures are based on the official information about the proportion of software companies’ revenue from overseas sales. Export exceeds import, with the gap continuing to widen: in 2017 it was about 1%, rising to 15% in 2018, 25% in 2019, and 27% in the first half of 2020.

The main consumers of Russian services are in the USA (comprising about a third of the volume in 2019), Germany, the UK, Ireland, and Cyprus.

Russia is close to the top twenty countries in the global market in terms of the share of exports. According to the HSE ISSEK report ‘Trends in the Internet Development: The Readiness of the Economy and Society to Function in the Digital Environment’, the leaders in this segment are Ireland ($78.1 billion in 2018), India ($55.5 billion), and China ($45 billion).
